Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance and close the water tap. Mop up any spilled water to avoid slipping.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Inspect the door seal:
- Open the door and carefully examine the entire circumference of the grey rubber gasket.
- Look for tears, holes, or splits, especially at the bottom.
- Remove any foreign objects (coins, bra wires) lodged in the folds.
- 2. Check retaining bands:
- Verify that the outer metal or spring band holding the seal to the front panel is in place and tight.
- If loose or off, refit correctly; if damaged, replace the band.
- 3. Detergent usage:
- Ensure you are using HE detergent and not exceeding the recommended dose.
- Run a rinse cycle to clear excess suds if foaming is heavy.
- 4. Replace the door seal if damaged:
- Remove the outer and inner retaining bands.
- Pull off the old seal and fit the new Siemens-compatible gasket, aligning the drain holes at the bottom.
- Refit inner and outer bands securely.
When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable removing the front panel or inner band, or if leaks persist from other areas, contact a professional.
