Possible Causes
Faulty user interface PCB, Moisture ingress into control panel, Loose ribbon cable between UI and main board, Stuck or shorted buttons
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before removing the control panel.
- Power cycle: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect and test the controls.
- Check for moisture: Inspect the control panel area for signs of condensation or water ingress (often from steam). Allow the panel to dry completely if damp.
- Inspect connections: Remove the top panel and gently remove the control fascia if accessible. Check the ribbon cable and connectors between the user interface and main PCB. Reseat them carefully.
- Test buttons: Press each button individually to feel for sticking. If some buttons are physically stuck or unresponsive, the UI board or keypad membrane may need replacement.
- Replace UI board: If E15 persists and physical inspection shows damage, replace the user interface PCB with a compatible SMEG part.
