Washer-dryer powers on but will not start any program; Start button beeps or flashes but cycle does not begin.

Safety first: Ensure hands are dry when operating controls.

• Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door until you hear a positive click. Remove any laundry trapped in the seal.
• Verify child lock: Many SMEG combos have a child lock. Look for a key or padlock symbol on the display. Disable it by holding the designated button combination (refer to user manual).
• Try different program: Select a simple cotton wash and press Start/Pause firmly for 1–2 seconds.
• Inspect door lock: If the lock indicator does not light and the machine will not start, the door lock may be faulty. Follow door lock replacement steps as in E01.
• UI fault: If some buttons do not respond, the user interface PCB may need replacement.
