Dryer takes too long to dry clothes

Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing panels. For gas models, shut off gas if working near burner.

• 1. Clean lint filter: Remove and clean the lint screen. Wash with warm soapy water if coated.
• 2. Check airflow: Run the dryer with the vent hose disconnected briefly. If dry times improve, the house vent is restricted and must be cleaned.
• 3. Inspect vent system: Clean or replace crushed or long vent runs. Ensure the exterior hood opens freely.
• 4. Heater performance: Verify that the dryer cycles heat on and off during operation. If not, test the cycling thermostat and heating element or gas burner components.
• 5. Moisture sensor: Clean the moisture sensor bars to ensure accurate auto-dry operation.
