Possible Causes
Dirty or coated moisture sensor bars, Broken moisture sensor wiring, Failed moisture sensor assembly, Control not reading sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing internal wiring. Cleaning the sensor bars can be done with power off and door open.
- 1. Locate moisture sensor bars: Typically found inside the dryer drum on the front bulkhead as two metal strips.
- 2. Clean sensor bars: Use a soft cloth and rubbing alcohol or mild abrasive pad to remove any waxy or detergent buildup. Do not use steel wool.
- 3. Inspect wiring: From the front or rear (depending on model), trace the wires from the sensor bars to the harness. Ensure connections are tight and wires are not broken.
- 4. Continuity test: With power off, test continuity across the sensor circuit while bridging the bars with a damp cloth. If no change is detected, replace the sensor assembly or repair wiring.
- 5. Control check: If the sensor and wiring are good but Er13 persists, the main control may not be processing the moisture signal and may need replacement.
