Possible Causes
Door lock solenoid stuck, Broken door lock mechanism, Control not sending unlock signal, Wiring harness damage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Do not force the door open with tools, as this can damage the door and lock.
- 1. Wait for cool-down: Some models delay unlock if water is too hot. Wait 5–10 minutes and try again.
- 2. Attempt manual release: Many Speed Queen combos have a manual door lock release accessible from the bottom front or behind the lower panel. Pull the release tab or lever to open the door.
- 3. Inspect lock assembly: Once open and power is off, access the door lock. Check for broken parts or signs of overheating.
- 4. Wiring check: Verify the harness to the lock is intact and connectors are secure.
- 5. Replace lock: If the lock mechanism is jammed or the solenoid coil is open (test with multimeter), replace the door lock assembly.
- 6. Control evaluation: If a new lock does not resolve Er15, the main control may not be sending the unlock signal and should be tested/replaced by a technician.
