Possible Causes
Clogged drain pump filter or impeller, Obstructed drain hose, Failed drain pump motor, Wiring issue between pump and control
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and be prepared for water spillage when opening the pump area. Use towels or a shallow pan.
- 1. Check drain hose: Inspect the external drain hose for kinks, clogs, or being inserted too far into the standpipe. Correct any issues.
- 2. Access drain pump: Remove the lower front panel or rear panel (model dependent) to reach the drain pump assembly.
- 3. Clean pump filter and housing: If your model has a serviceable filter, unscrew the cap and remove debris (coins, lint, buttons). If not, remove the pump inlet hose and check for obstructions at the pump impeller.
- 4. Inspect impeller: Ensure the impeller spins freely and is not broken. Remove any foreign objects.
- 5. Electrical test: With power off, test the pump motor coil resistance with a multimeter. Replace the pump if open or shorted.
- 6. Wiring check: Verify the harness from the pump to the main control is intact and connectors are tight.
- 7. Reassemble and test: Refit hoses securely with clamps, reinstall panels, plug in, and run a drain & spin cycle to confirm proper operation.
