Possible Causes
Failed dryer drive motor, Seized drum rollers or idler pulley, Broken or jammed belt, Faulty motor start capacitor (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing any panels. Do not run the dryer with panels removed.
- 1. Check drum movement: With the door open and power off, try to rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly. If very stiff, suspect seized rollers or idler.
- 2. Listen for motor hum: If the motor hums but drum does not turn, the belt may be broken or the motor cannot start under load.
- 3. Access belt and motor: Remove the front panel and/or top panel to view the belt, idler pulley, and motor.
- 4. Inspect belt: Replace the belt if it is broken, frayed, or off the pulleys. Check that the idler pulley spins freely.
- 5. Check rollers and idler: Spin drum support rollers and idler pulley by hand. Replace any that are noisy, rough, or seized.
- 6. Motor test: With power disconnected, test motor windings for continuity per the tech sheet. If windings are open or motor is mechanically locked, replace the motor.
- 7. Capacitor (if present): Some models use a start capacitor. Discharge it safely, then test with a capacitance meter. Replace if out of spec.
- 8. Reassemble and test: After replacing faulty components, reassemble the cabinet, plug in, and run a short dry cycle to confirm normal drum rotation.
