Display shows Er7 and dryer will not ignite (gas) or heat (electric)

Safety first: Unplug the unit. For gas models, shut off the gas supply and ventilate the area if you smell gas. Do not attempt ignition tests with panels removed unless you are trained.

• 1. Determine fuel type: Confirm if your Speed Queen combo is gas or electric. The troubleshooting differs.
• 2. For gas models – visual ignition check: With panels in place, start a heat cycle and observe through the burner view port. If the igniter glows but no flame appears, suspect gas valve coils. If the igniter never glows, suspect igniter or flame sensor.
• 3. For electric models – element check: Access the heater housing from the rear. Inspect the heating element for breaks or burn spots.
• 4. Test components: With power off, use a multimeter to check continuity of the igniter, flame sensor, gas valve coils, or heating element as applicable. Replace any open components.
• 5. Wiring inspection: Verify all connectors to the heater assembly, thermostats, and control are secure and not burnt.
• 6. Replace faulty parts: Install new OEM gas valve coils, igniter, flame sensor, or heating element as indicated by tests.
• 7. Gas leak check: After any gas component replacement, use a leak detection solution on fittings before restoring full operation.
