Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing the drain system. Water may spill; have towels and a shallow pan ready.
- Access the drain pump filter: On most Summit washer-dryer combos, the drain pump filter is behind a small lower front access panel or kick plate. Remove the panel screws or release tabs.
- Manually drain excess water: Place a shallow pan under the filter cap. Slowly loosen the cap to let water drain out gradually. Tighten and empty the pan as needed until water flow stops.
- Clean the filter: Fully remove the filter cap and pull out the filter. Remove lint, coins, buttons, and other debris. Check inside the pump housing for obstructions and carefully remove any foreign objects.
- Inspect the drain hose: Go to the back of the unit and verify the drain hose is not kinked, crushed, or inserted too far into the standpipe (which can cause siphoning). Remove the hose from the standpipe and flush it with water to clear any blockage.
- Check pump operation: With the filter reinstalled and the hose reconnected, plug the unit back in and run a drain or spin-only cycle. Listen for the drain pump running. If it hums but does not pump, or is silent, the drain pump motor may be faulty.
- Replace drain pump if necessary: Unplug again, remove the lower front panel, disconnect the pump wiring and hose clamps, and swap in a new pump assembly. Ensure all clamps are tight to prevent leaks.
If E2 persists after cleaning and hose inspection, professional diagnosis of the pump and control board is recommended.
