Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before working around the door lock. Do not force the door open if it is locked with water in the drum.
- Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Ensure no clothing is trapped between the door gasket and the door frame.
- Inspect door strike: Look at the plastic or metal door strike on the door. If it is cracked, loose, or missing, it may not engage the lock properly. Replace if damaged.
- Listen for lock operation: Start a cycle and listen for a click from the door lock area. If there is no click and E7 appears, the door lock assembly may be faulty.
- Access door lock (advanced): Unplug the unit. Remove the front panel or the door gasket retaining band to access the door lock from inside the front panel. Check that the wiring connector is fully seated and that no wires are broken.
- Replace door lock: Remove mounting screws, disconnect the wiring harness, and install a new door lock assembly specific to your Summit model. Reassemble the front and gasket carefully to avoid leaks.
If the error persists after replacing the lock, the main control board may not be sending the correct lock signal and should be checked by a technician.
