Possible Causes
Door lock mechanism jammed, Control board not sending unlock signal, Broken door handle or latch, Residual water in drum triggering safety lock
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not force the door open. Unplug the unit before attempting manual release.
- Wait a few minutes: Many Summit combos keep the door locked for 1–3 minutes after the cycle ends. Wait and listen for a click.
- Check for water in drum: If water is visible, run a drain/spin cycle. A full drum will keep the door locked.
- Manual release: Unplug the unit. Access the door lock area by removing the lower front panel or pulling back the door gasket. Many locks have a manual pull tab or lever; pull gently to release the door.
- Inspect door lock: Once open, check the door lock assembly and strike for damage. Replace the door lock assembly if it frequently sticks.
If the door remains locked or the issue recurs, have a technician test the lock and control board.
