Possible Causes

Torn or worn door gasket, Debris trapped on gasket sealing surface, Loose or damaged gasket retaining clamp, Excessive suds foaming over gasket

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and turn off water supply before working around the door gasket.

  • Inspect gasket: Open the door and carefully examine the entire circumference of the rubber boot. Look for tears, holes, or areas where the gasket has pulled away from the drum or front panel.
  • Clean gasket: Wipe the gasket with a damp cloth to remove lint, hair, and detergent residue. Pay special attention to the bottom where debris collects.
  • Check retaining band: Gently pull back the outer edge of the gasket to locate the metal or plastic retaining band. Ensure it is intact and tight. If loose, reseat and tighten the clamp screw if present.
  • Replace gasket if damaged: If you find tears or permanent deformation, remove the front panel, release inner and outer clamps, and install a new door gasket (boot seal) specific to your Summit model.
  • Reduce detergent: Use HE detergent and avoid over-dosing to reduce foaming that can push water past the gasket.
