Possible Causes
Faulty Start/Pause button on control panel, Child lock function enabled, Defective user interface PCB, Loose ribbon cable between UI and main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing the control panel.
- Check for child lock: Refer to your Summit manual for the child lock icon. Try holding the designated buttons (often two keys together) for 3–5 seconds to disable child lock.
- Confirm door is closed: Ensure the door is fully latched; the machine will not start with an open or partially closed door.
- Try different programs: Select another cycle and press Start to rule out a specific program issue.
- Inspect control panel connections: Remove the top panel and gently remove the control fascia. Check that the ribbon cable from the user interface to the main board is fully seated and not damaged.
If the Start button still does not respond, the user interface PCB or main control board may need replacement by a technician.
