Possible Causes
Blocked drain pump filter, Obstructed drain hose, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance. Be prepared for water spillage when opening the filter.
- Access and clean pump filter: Open the lower service flap on the front of the Zanussi unit. Place a shallow tray and towels underneath. Slowly unscrew the pump filter cap to let water drain. Remove lint, coins, buttons, and debris from the filter and pump cavity.
- Check pump impeller: With the filter removed, gently rotate the impeller with a finger or non-metal tool. It should turn freely without grinding. Remove any trapped objects.
- Inspect drain hose: Check the external drain hose for kinks, freezing (in cold locations), or blockage at the standpipe or sink connection.
- Test pump operation: After cleaning, run a drain or spin program. Listen for the pump running. If it hums but does not turn, or is silent, the pump motor may be defective.
- Replace pump if needed: Disconnect hoses and wiring from the drain pump assembly and fit a genuine Zanussi-compatible pump if the original is burnt out or seized.
