Possible Causes

Worn carbon brushes (on brushed motors), Faulty motor tachometer, Loose motor connector, Defective motor winding

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance before accessing the motor.

  • Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly without grinding.
  • Inspect motor connections: Remove the rear panel, locate the drive motor, and ensure the multi-pin connector is fully seated.
  • Check carbon brushes: On brush-type Zanussi motors, remove the brushes and inspect their length. Replace if worn below manufacturer specification.
  • Test tachometer: Measure resistance of the tachometer coil on the motor. Replace the motor if the tach coil is open or damaged.

If E50 persists after motor repairs, the motor control circuit on the PCB may be faulty.
