Possible Causes

Failed main control board (CCU), loose wiring harness at control, shorted user interface panel, power surge damage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Admiral washer from the wall outlet before removing any panels. Turn off both hot and cold water supply valves.

Step-by-step checks:

  • 1. Power reset: Unplug the washer for 5 minutes to discharge the control. Plug back in and try a rinse/drain cycle. If F01 returns, continue.
  • 2. Inspect power cord and outlet: Verify the outlet has 120V AC using a meter. Check that the power cord is not burned or loose at the strain relief.
  • 3. Access main control (CCU): Remove the top panel (usually 2–3 screws at the back, slide back and lift). Locate the main control board mounted near the rear or side.
  • 4. Check harness connections: One at a time, unplug and firmly reseat each wiring connector on the control board. Look for burnt pins, corrosion, or loose terminals.
  • 5. Inspect for board damage: Look for burnt spots, bulging capacitors, or cracked solder joints on the CCU. Any visible damage usually means replacement is required.
  • 6. Check user interface ribbon: Follow the ribbon cable from the console to the main board. Reseat both ends and inspect for kinks or corrosion.
  • 7. If F01 persists: The main control board is likely failed. Replacement requires transferring each connector to the new board one at a time to avoid miswiring.

When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable working around live voltage or identifying board damage, have a qualified appliance technician test and replace the control.
