Washer stops and displays F05, may not advance from wash to rinse or spin

Safety first: Unplug the washer and shut off water supply before accessing internal components.

Step-by-step checks:

• 1. Try a cold-only cycle: Set the washer to a cold wash. If the cycle completes without F05, the issue is likely with the temperature sensing or heating circuit.
• 2. Access the NTC sensor: Remove the rear panel. Locate the heater/NTC assembly at the bottom of the outer tub. The NTC is usually a small probe with 2 wires near the heater terminals.
• 3. Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the NTC to the main control for damage, burns, or loose connectors. Reseat the plug at both ends.
• 4. Test NTC resistance: Disconnect the NTC connector and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (20–25°C / 68–77°F), many NTCs read around 20kΩ (check service manual for exact spec). If reading is open or shorted, replace the sensor.
• 5. Check for heater shorts: Measure resistance from each heater terminal to ground (tub). Any continuity to ground indicates a shorted heater that can trigger F05.
• 6. Replace faulty parts: If the NTC is out of spec, replace it. If the heater is shorted, replace the heater assembly and gasket.

When to call a technician: If the NTC and heater test good, the main control board may not be reading the sensor correctly and may need professional diagnosis or replacement.
