Washer stops and displays F07, may not heat water properly or may abort cycle
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and shut off water supply. Heating components can retain heat; allow time to cool.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Access heater assembly: Remove the rear panel. The heater is usually mounted in the bottom of the outer tub with two terminals and a ground connection.
- 2. Inspect wiring: Check the heater wires and connectors for burns, discoloration, or looseness. Reseat connectors firmly.
- 3. Test heater resistance: Disconnect the heater wires and measure resistance across the heater terminals. Typical values are 10–30 Ω (check model specs). An open circuit means the heater is failed.
- 4. Check for ground fault: Measure from each heater terminal to the metal tub or ground. Any continuity indicates a shorted heater that must be replaced.
- 5. Control relay check: If the heater tests good, inspect the main control board for a burned heater relay (darkened area, melted plastic). A failed relay requires board replacement.
- 6. Replace faulty parts: Replace the heater with the correct Admiral-compatible element and new gasket. Tighten the mounting nut evenly to prevent leaks.
When to call a technician: If the heater and wiring are good but F07 persists, the control board or temperature sensing circuit may need professional evaluation.
