Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off both water supply valves. Be prepared for water spillage if the tub is overfilled.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Verify drain hose height: Ensure the drain hose is installed at the correct height (usually 30–96 inches from floor) and not sealed airtight into the standpipe. Incorrect installation can cause siphoning and overflow errors.
- 2. Inspect pressure hose: Remove the top panel. Locate the small rubber or plastic hose running from the bottom side of the tub to the pressure switch near the control. Check for kinks, cracks, or blockages. Blow gently through the hose to clear any soap residue.
- 3. Check pressure switch: With the washer unplugged, remove the connector from the pressure switch and inspect for corrosion or loose pins. Reseat the connector.
- 4. Test water inlet valves: Turn water back on briefly and watch if water continues to enter the tub when the washer is off. If so, one of the inlet valves is stuck open and must be replaced.
- 5. Run a drain/spin: After clearing the hose and checking valves, plug the washer back in and run a drain/spin cycle to remove excess water and reset the error.
When to call a technician: If the pressure switch or main control is not correctly sensing water level after these checks, component-level diagnosis and replacement may be required.
