Washer will not start, door will not lock, F22 displayed

Safety first: Unplug the washer before working around the door lock area.

Step-by-step checks:

• 1. Inspect door strike: Check the plastic or metal strike on the door for cracks or misalignment. If it is loose or broken, replace it.
• 2. Check door closure: Ensure the door closes firmly and evenly. Adjust the hinges if the door is sagging and not engaging the lock fully.
• 3. Access door lock: Remove the outer clamp on the door boot and peel back the gasket to reach the door lock assembly on the cabinet.
• 4. Inspect wiring: Verify the harness connector is fully seated in the lock and that wires are not broken or pinched.
• 5. Test lock coil: With the washer unplugged, measure resistance across the lock coil terminals. An open reading indicates a failed lock that must be replaced.
• 6. Replace lock if needed: Remove mounting screws, install the new Admiral-compatible door lock, reconnect wiring, and reinstall the boot and clamp.

When to call a technician: If a new lock does not clear F22, the main control board may not be sending power to the lock and should be professionally tested.
