Possible Causes
Defective door lock assembly, Broken or loose wiring harness to door lock, Faulty main control module (PCB), Misaligned door latch hook
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Amica washer from the mains and turn off the water supply before working on the door area.
- 1. Check door closure: Make sure the door is fully closed and the latch hook engages firmly. Inspect the latch hook on the door for damage or bending. Gently push the door in while trying to start a cycle.
- 2. Inspect the door lock assembly: Remove the front door seal clamp and pull back the gasket to access the door lock on the cabinet. Check for cracks, burn marks, or loose mounting screws. Wiggle the connector to ensure it is fully seated.
- 3. Check wiring harness: With power still disconnected, remove the connector from the door lock and inspect for corrosion or burnt pins. Trace the harness back toward the main PCB for pinched or broken wires, especially near the hinge area.
- 4. Test the door lock: Using a multimeter, test the door lock coil(s) for continuity according to Amica service specs (typically a few kΩ). If open or shorted, replace the door lock assembly.
- 5. Reset the control: After reassembly, plug the washer back in and try a short cycle. If E01 persists after a known-good lock is installed, the main control module may be faulty and should be diagnosed or replaced by a qualified technician.
