Possible Causes

Failed heating element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose or burnt heater wiring, Defective main control relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer and allow it to cool before accessing the heater area.

  • 1. Confirm symptom: Run a 60°C cotton cycle and check after 20–30 minutes if the door glass is still cold. If E05 appears or water remains cold, proceed.
  • 2. Access the heater: On most Amica models, the heater is located at the rear of the tub, accessible from the back panel. Remove the rear cover to expose the heater terminals and NTC sensor.
  • 3. Test the heating element: Disconnect the heater wires. Use a multimeter to measure resistance across the heater terminals (typically 20–30 Ω; check Amica specs). If open circuit or short to ground (test between each terminal and the metal tub), replace the heater.
  • 4. Check the NTC sensor: The NTC is usually mounted in the heater bracket. Disconnect its plug and measure resistance; it should change smoothly with temperature (often ~20 kΩ at room temperature). If reading is open, shorted, or erratic, replace the NTC sensor.
  • 5. Inspect wiring and control: Look for burnt connectors at the heater and NTC. If heater and NTC test good, the main control board heater relay or triac may be faulty and should be serviced by a professional.
