Possible Causes
Loose motor tachometer connector, Damaged tachometer coil, Slipping or broken drive belt, Faulty motor control on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing any panels.
- 1. Inspect the belt: Remove the rear cover and check that the belt is tight and correctly seated. Replace if frayed, glazed, or broken.
- 2. Check tachometer connection: At the rear of the motor, locate the tachometer sensor and ensure its plug is firmly connected. Look for corrosion or bent pins.
- 3. Test tachometer coil: With the connector unplugged, measure resistance across the tachometer terminals. A very high or zero reading indicates a faulty tachometer; replace the motor or tach assembly as designed for your Amica model.
- 4. Examine wiring harness: Trace the motor harness back to the main PCB, checking for chafed insulation or broken wires, especially where the harness flexes.
- 5. Control board diagnosis: If belt, tachometer, and wiring are all good, the motor control circuit on the PCB may be defective. This repair is advanced and should be handled by a professional.
