Possible Causes
Open or shorted NTC sensor, Loose NTC connector, Damaged wiring to NTC, Faulty temperature input on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the machine to cool before accessing the heater area.
- 1. Access NTC sensor: Remove the rear panel. The NTC is usually clipped into the heater bracket at the bottom of the tub.
- 2. Check connection: Ensure the NTC plug is firmly seated and free of corrosion.
- 3. Measure resistance: Disconnect the NTC and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to Amica specifications (commonly around 20 kΩ at 25°C). A reading of near 0 Ω or infinite indicates a faulty sensor.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Follow the NTC wires to the main PCB, checking for cuts or pinched sections.
- 5. Replace NTC if faulty: Fit a new Amica-compatible NTC sensor, reassemble, and run a warm wash to confirm correct operation. If E12 remains with a good sensor, the PCB may need replacement.
