Possible Causes
Stuck door lock mechanism, Faulty door lock solenoid, Broken door handle or latch, Control board not sending unlock signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before attempting to manually open the door. Beware of hot water inside the drum.
- 1. Wait for safety delay: Many Amica models have a 1–2 minute delay before unlocking. Ensure the cycle is complete and wait the full delay.
- 2. Drain water: If water remains in the drum, use the emergency drain (via pump filter) to empty it. The door will not unlock if water level is high.
- 3. Manual release: Access the manual door release (often a pull cord near the pump filter) if provided. Gently pull to open the door.
- 4. Inspect door lock: Once open and unplugged, remove the door seal clamp and access the lock. Check for mechanical jamming or heat damage. Replace the door lock assembly if it fails to lock/unlock reliably.
- 5. Check control and wiring: If a new lock does not resolve E42, the wiring or PCB output may be faulty and should be tested by a technician.
