Possible Causes

Loose tachometer connector, Damaged tachometer coil, Broken magnet on motor shaft, Faulty PCB tach input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before working on the motor.

  • 1. Access motor: Remove the rear panel and take off the drive belt to access the motor.
  • 2. Inspect tachometer: At the rear of the motor, check the tachometer sensor and its connector. Ensure it is firmly attached and not physically damaged.
  • 3. Test tach coil: Measure resistance across the tachometer terminals. Compare to Amica specifications. Replace the motor if the tach is open or shorted and not separately replaceable.
  • 4. Check magnet: Inspect the magnet ring on the motor shaft for cracks or dislodging. A damaged magnet requires motor replacement.
  • 5. PCB diagnosis: If the tach system is sound, the PCB input circuit may be defective and require replacement.
