Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off the water supply before working on the machine.
E01 on Asko washers typically indicates the door is not locking correctly.
- Step 1 – Check door closure: Open and firmly close the door. Make sure no clothing is trapped between the door and the gasket. Try starting a cycle again.
- Step 2 – Inspect door latch hook: With power disconnected, inspect the metal or plastic latch hook on the door. If bent, loose, or cracked, it must be replaced.
- Step 3 – Test door lock assembly: Remove the front panel or door seal clamp (depending on model) to access the door lock assembly. Check for burnt smell, cracks, or loose connectors. Reseat the wiring plug firmly.
- Step 4 – Electrical test: Using a multimeter, test the door lock solenoid/contacts for continuity according to the Asko service manual values. Replace the door lock assembly if open or shorted.
- Step 5 – Control board check: If the lock tests good but E01 persists, inspect the main PCB for burnt components or loose connectors. Reseat the door lock connector on the PCB. If damage is visible or the board does not send voltage to the lock, the PCB may need replacement.
If you are not comfortable working with electrical components, contact a qualified Asko service technician.
