Possible Causes
Failed heating element in Asko tub, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose or burnt heater wiring, Defective main control board heater relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing internal components. Water in the tub may be hot.
- Step 1 – Confirm symptom: Run a hot wash cycle and check if the door glass and water remain cold after 15–20 minutes (if the machine will still run).
- Step 2 – Access heater terminals: Remove the rear panel (or front lower panel depending on model) to access the heating element mounted in the lower part of the tub.
- Step 3 – Test heating element: Disconnect the heater wires and measure resistance across the element terminals. Typical values are 20–40 Ω (check Asko specs). Infinite resistance indicates a failed element that must be replaced.
- Step 4 – Inspect NTC sensor: The NTC temperature sensor is usually mounted near or in the heater bracket. Check its wiring and measure resistance at room temperature; compare to Asko service data. Replace if readings are out of range or unstable.
- Step 5 – Wiring and relay check: Inspect wiring from the heater and NTC to the main PCB for burns or loose connectors. If wiring is good and components test OK, the heater relay on the control board may be defective and the PCB may require replacement.
Because this involves mains voltage and water, if you are unsure, have an authorized Asko technician perform the repair.
