E17
Asko Excessive Suds / Foam Detection

Washer shows E17; often related to excessive foam or suds detection

Possible Causes

Overdosing detergent in Asko high-efficiency washer, Using non-HE detergent, Blocked pressure sensor causing false foam detection, Drain pump struggling due to foam

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer if it is overflowing with foam.

  • Step 1 – Let foam dissipate: Leave the washer off for 30–60 minutes to allow foam to break down. Then run a rinse and spin cycle without adding detergent.
  • Step 2 – Check detergent use: Ensure you are using HE (high-efficiency) detergent and follow Asko’s recommended dosage, which is often less than standard machines.
  • Step 3 – Clean pressure system: If E17 recurs, clean the pressure hose and air trap as described for E08 to ensure accurate water level and foam detection.
  • Step 4 – Rinse drum: Run an empty hot cycle with no detergent to flush residual soap from the tub and hoses.

Persistent E17 with correct detergent use may indicate a sensor or control issue requiring professional service.
