Possible Causes
Drive belt slipping on pulley, Foreign object stuck between drum and tub, Motor overheating, Electrical short on PCB or wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately stop the washer, unplug it, and do not use it again until inspected. Smoke can indicate fire risk.
- Step 1 – Inspect belt and pulley: Remove rear panel and check for melted or burnt belt. Replace if damaged and correct any pulley misalignment.
- Step 2 – Check for obstructions: Look for items stuck between drum and tub causing friction.
- Step 3 – Smell test: Carefully smell near the motor and PCB (with power off) to locate the source of burning odor. Do not touch components that may still be hot.
Because of fire and shock hazards, have a qualified technician perform further diagnosis and repair.
