Possible Causes
Partially blocked drain pump, blocked sump hose between tub and pump, faulty drain pump motor, pressure switch not detecting empty level
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and prepare for water spillage.
- Clean pump filter and sump: Open the pump filter cover, drain residual water, and remove debris. Reach into the sump area (between tub and pump) with fingers or a flexible grabber to remove socks or small garments.
- Check drain hose height and routing: Ensure the drain hose is installed at the correct height (usually 60–100 cm) and not submerged too deep into the standpipe, which can cause siphoning issues.
- Inspect pump operation: After reassembly, run a drain-only program. Listen for the pump. If it hums but does not move water, the impeller may be jammed or the pump is weak.
- Pressure switch check: If the tub is empty but the machine still thinks it is full, inspect and clean the pressure hose and chamber as described for F04.
Persistent F05: Likely requires replacement of the drain pump assembly or pressure switch, and in rare cases, control board repair.
