Possible Causes

Open-circuit heating element, burnt heater terminals, faulty heater relay on control board, damaged wiring to heater

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer and ensure the tub is cool.

  • Locate heater: The heating element is usually mounted in the bottom of the tub from the rear. Remove the rear panel to access it.
  • Inspect terminals: Check for burnt, loose, or corroded heater terminals and connectors. Clean light corrosion and tighten connections; replace burnt connectors.
  • Continuity check (for experienced users): Disconnect the heater wires and measure resistance across the heater terminals. Typical values are 20–30 Ω. Infinite resistance indicates a failed element.
  • Check for earth leakage: Measure resistance between each heater terminal and the metal tub. Very low resistance suggests insulation failure and the heater must be replaced.

If heater and wiring are good: The fault may be in the main control board heater relay or triac, which usually requires board replacement.
