Possible Causes
Jammed drum (foreign object), worn carbon brushes on motor (on brushed motors), seized motor bearings, faulty motor control circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer.
- Check drum movement: Open the door and spin the drum by hand. It should move freely. Scraping or blockage suggests a foreign object between drum and tub.
- Inspect motor and belt: Remove the rear panel. Check that the belt is intact and properly seated. Remove the belt and spin the motor pulley by hand; it should turn smoothly.
- Check carbon brushes (if fitted): On brushed motors, remove the motor and inspect the carbon brushes. If they are shorter than about 1 cm or unevenly worn, replace them as a pair.
If F21 persists after mechanical checks: The motor windings or control board motor driver may be defective and require professional testing and replacement.
