Possible Causes

Defective door interlock switch, Broken or misaligned door latch hook, Wiring harness issue between door lock and main control board, Faulty main control board (PCB)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off the water supply before any work. Do not bypass the door lock for testing while the machine is powered.

Step-by-step checks:

  • Inspect the door and latch: Open the door and check the metal or plastic latch hook on the door. If it is bent, cracked, or loose, the door may not engage the interlock. Tighten screws and replace the latch hook if damaged.
  • Check for door misalignment: Gently lift the door up and down. Excessive play can prevent proper locking. Tighten hinge screws. If the hinge is worn or bent, replace the hinge assembly.
  • Test the door interlock: Remove the front retaining spring of the door boot (gasket) and pull back the gasket near the lock. Unscrew the door lock assembly from the front panel. Inspect for burn marks or broken plastic. Using a multimeter (with the machine unplugged), test continuity across the lock terminals when the latch is inserted and turned. If no continuity, replace the door lock assembly.
  • Inspect wiring: Trace the wiring harness from the door lock to the main control board. Look for pinched, broken, or burned wires and loose connectors. Reseat all connectors firmly.
  • Reset power: After any corrections, reconnect power, close the door firmly, and try a short cycle. If E01 persists after lock and wiring checks, the main control board may be faulty and should be tested or replaced by a qualified technician.
