Possible Causes

Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain hose or standpipe, Foreign object in drain pump impeller, Failed drain pump motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer. Water may spill when opening the filter; keep towels and a shallow tray ready.

Step-by-step checks:

  • Access and clean the pump filter: Open the lower front service flap. Place a tray under the filter cap. Slowly unscrew the filter to let water drain. Remove lint, coins, buttons, and other debris from the filter and pump cavity.
  • Check pump impeller: With the filter removed, reach into the pump housing and gently turn the impeller. It should rotate freely with slight resistance. If jammed or loose on the shaft, the pump may need replacement.
  • Inspect drain hose: Check the entire length of the drain hose for kinks or blockages. Detach from the standpipe or sink trap and flush with water. Ensure the hose is not inserted too far into the standpipe, which can cause siphoning issues.
  • Test the pump electrically: Remove the rear or bottom panel (depending on model) to access the pump. With the washer unplugged, disconnect the pump wiring and measure coil resistance. An open circuit or very high resistance indicates a failed pump.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the filter securely, reconnect hoses, and run a drain or spin-only program. If E03 returns despite a clean filter and clear hose, replace the drain pump assembly.
