Possible Causes
Blocked pressure chamber or pressure hose, Faulty water level pressure switch, Stuck-open water inlet valve, Control board not shutting off valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer immediately and close water supply taps if overfilling occurs. Do not continue using the machine until the fault is corrected.
Step-by-step checks:
- Inspect pressure hose: Remove the top cover. Locate the thin pressure hose running from the bottom of the tub or pressure chamber to the pressure switch. Check for kinks, cracks, or disconnections. Blow gently through the hose (with it disconnected from the switch) to ensure it is clear.
- Clean pressure chamber: At the tub connection, detergent residue can clog the pressure chamber. Remove the hose at the tub end and flush the chamber with hot water to clear soap buildup.
- Test pressure switch: With the machine unplugged, disconnect the pressure switch. Using a multimeter, check continuity across the switch terminals while gently blowing into the pressure port. The contacts should change state as pressure increases. If not, replace the pressure switch.
- Check inlet valve operation: With the washer plugged in and back panel accessible, start a fill cycle and observe the inlet valve. If water continues to flow after the machine should stop filling, the valve may be stuck open and must be replaced.
- Control board check: If the pressure system and inlet valve are confirmed good but E04 persists, the main control board may be misreading the level signal and should be evaluated by a technician.
