Possible Causes
Worn or broken carbon brushes (on universal motors), Faulty drive motor, Loose or broken motor wiring harness, Defective motor triac or relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before accessing the motor or underside. Beware of sharp metal edges.
Step-by-step checks:
- Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly. If it is seized or very stiff, there may be a mechanical issue (bearing or foreign object) rather than an electrical motor fault.
- Inspect drive belt: Remove the rear panel and verify the belt is intact and properly tensioned between the motor pulley and drum pulley. If the belt is off or frayed, refit or replace it.
- Check motor brushes (if fitted): On models with brushed motors, remove the motor from the chassis. Inspect the carbon brushes; if they are shorter than about 1 cm or unevenly worn, replace both brushes with Blomberg-compatible parts.
- Test motor windings: With the motor disconnected, measure resistance across the main windings and tachometer coil (if present). Compare to service specifications. Open or shorted windings indicate a failed motor.
- Inspect wiring and control: Check the motor connector and harness for burn marks or loose pins. If motor, belt, and wiring are good but E06 persists, the motor drive circuit on the main control board is likely faulty and should be serviced by a professional.
