Possible Causes
Open or shorted drain pump winding, Loose pump connector, Damaged wiring harness to pump, Control board pump driver failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and be prepared for water spillage when accessing the pump.
Step-by-step checks:
- Check pump filter and impeller: Clean the pump filter and ensure the impeller turns freely.
- Test pump coil: Access the pump from the rear or bottom. Disconnect the wiring and measure resistance across the pump terminals. Compare to Blomberg specifications. An open or very low resistance indicates a faulty pump.
- Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the pump to the control board for damage or loose connectors.
- Control board driver: If a known-good pump and wiring are present but E18 persists, the pump driver circuit on the main PCB may be defective and require replacement.
