Possible Causes
Broken or slipped drive belt, Failed drive motor, Faulty motor control circuit, Seized drum bearings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and ensure the drum is stationary before working at the rear.
Step-by-step checks:
- Check belt: Remove the rear panel. Inspect the belt between the motor and drum pulley. If off, refit; if cracked or stretched, replace.
- Turn drum by hand: Rotate the drum manually. If it is very stiff or grinding, the bearings may be seized and the tub/bearing assembly will need replacement.
- Test motor: If the belt and drum are fine, test the motor windings and brushes (if fitted) and replace the motor if defective.
- Control board: If motor tests good but never receives power, the motor drive circuit on the main PCB may be faulty.
