Possible Causes
Clogged drain pump filter, Blocked drain pump impeller, Obstructed drain hose, Failed drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Keep towels and a shallow tray ready for water spillage.
- Access pump filter: Open the lower service flap on the front of the machine. Place a tray under the drain filter cap.
- Drain residual water: If equipped, use the emergency drain hose to empty water into a tray or bucket. Then slowly unscrew the pump filter cap to release remaining water.
- Clean filter: Remove lint, coins, buttons, and debris from the filter and pump cavity. Check that the pump impeller spins freely and is not jammed.
- Inspect drain hose: Check the external drain hose for kinks or clogs. Detach from the standpipe or sink trap and flush with water if necessary.
- Test drain: Reinstall the filter, close the flap, plug in the washer, and run a drain/spin cycle.
- Check pump operation: If you hear no pump noise or it hums but does not move water, the drain pump motor may be defective. Access the pump from the front or bottom (depending on model), disconnect wiring, and test with a multimeter. Replace the pump with a Bosch-compatible drain pump if faulty.
