Possible Causes
Stuck door lock mechanism, Faulty door lock solenoid, Broken door handle or latch, Control module not releasing lock
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Do not force the door open with tools, as this can damage the door and seal.
- Wait for delay: Some Bosch models have a 1–2 minute safety delay before unlocking. Wait and listen for a click.
- Check water level: If water is still visible in the drum, run a drain/spin program or manually drain via the pump filter. The door will not unlock if the machine senses water inside.
- Use emergency release: Many Bosch washers have a manual door release near the pump filter behind the lower flap (often a colored pull cord). Pull it gently to mechanically unlock the door.
- Inspect door lock: Once open and power is off, remove the door seal clamp and access the door lock. Check for signs of overheating or mechanical jamming.
- Replace door lock: If the lock is physically damaged or tests faulty with a multimeter, install a new Bosch door lock assembly and reassemble the front seal.
