Possible Causes

Worn carbon brushes on universal motor, Faulty motor tachometer sensor, Loose or broken motor wiring harness, Defective motor triac on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer and wait several minutes before accessing internal components.

Access the motor:

  • Remove the rear panel of the Brandt washer.
  • Locate the drive motor under the drum, connected by a belt.

Check the belt:

  • Ensure the drive belt is on both the motor pulley and drum pulley and is not shredded or excessively loose.

Inspect motor brushes (if fitted):

  • Remove the motor by undoing mounting bolts and disconnecting the wiring plug.
  • Remove the carbon brush holders from each side of the motor.
  • Measure brush length; if less than ~1 cm, replace both brushes with compatible Brandt motor brushes.

Check tachometer:

  • At the rear of the motor, inspect the tachometer coil and magnet ring for damage or looseness.
  • Measure resistance of the tach coil; if open circuit or far from spec, replace the motor or tach assembly (depending on design).

Wiring and PCB:

  • Inspect the motor harness from motor to PCB for burns or broken conductors.
  • Reseat connectors on the main control board.

Reassemble, plug in, and run a spin test. If D03 persists with a known-good motor and wiring, the main PCB triac or control logic is likely faulty and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
