Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Do not force the door open with tools that may damage the latch.
Inspect the door lock assembly:
- Access the door lock from the front by removing the retaining band of the door gasket and pulling the gasket back.
- Check for signs of overheating or melting on the lock body and connector.
Electrical tests:
- Disconnect the lock connector and measure resistance of the lock coil(s) with a multimeter.
- If readings are near zero (short) or infinite (open), replace the door lock with the correct Brandt part number.
Check wiring to PCB:
- Trace the harness to the main PCB and look for pinched or burnt wires.
- Reseat the connector on the PCB.
After replacing the lock or repairing wiring, reassemble the gasket, plug in the washer, and test a short cycle. If D09 remains, the PCB door lock driver circuit may be damaged and the board should be replaced.
