Possible Causes

Blocked inlet screens at water valves, Faulty Fisher & Paykel dual water inlet valve, Kinked or turned-off household water supply hoses, Faulty water level/pressure sensor in control module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off both hot and cold water taps before working on hoses or valves.

  • Check household water supply: Ensure both taps feeding the washer are fully open. Verify water pressure by briefly disconnecting a hose and running it into a bucket.
  • Inspect hoses for kinks: Pull the washer forward and make sure the Fisher & Paykel fill hoses are not crushed or sharply bent.
  • Clean inlet filters: At the back of the washer, unscrew the hoses from the inlet valve. Inside the valve ports are small mesh filters. Gently pull them out with needle-nose pliers, rinse under running water, and reinstall.
  • Test fill again: Reconnect hoses, turn taps back on, plug in the washer, and run a fill cycle. If E1 returns, the dual inlet valve or pressure sensor may be faulty.
  • Advanced check (technician level): With power disconnected, access the top or rear panel to reach the inlet valve assembly. Use a multimeter to check coil resistance against Fisher & Paykel specs. If open or shorted, replace the inlet valve assembly.
