Possible Causes
Failed Fisher & Paykel heater element, Faulty NTC temperature sensor, Loose heater wiring, Control board heater relay failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Heating components can retain residual voltage; use caution.
- Access heater: On most Fisher & Paykel front loaders, the heater is mounted in the bottom of the outer tub, accessible from the rear or front lower panel.
- Check wiring: Inspect heater terminals and NTC sensor connector for burning or loose connections. Reseat if needed.
- Test heater: Disconnect heater wires and measure resistance across the element with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed element.
- Test NTC sensor: Measure resistance at room temperature and compare to service specs. A shorted or open sensor must be replaced.
- Replace faulty parts: If the heater or NTC is defective, install the correct Fisher & Paykel replacement and ensure the gasket is seated to prevent leaks.
