Possible Causes
Partially blocked Fisher & Paykel drain pump, Lint or debris in sump hose, Drain hose run too long or too high, Weak drain pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and prepare for water spillage.
- Gravity drain: Lower the drain hose into a bucket to remove as much water as possible.
- Inspect sump hose: Access the bottom front or rear of the washer to reach the large hose between the tub and pump. Remove the clamp and check for socks, lint, or other obstructions.
- Check pump housing: Remove the pump from its mount and inspect the impeller area for debris. Clean thoroughly.
- Evaluate pump strength: If the pump runs but drains slowly even when clear, the motor may be weak and should be replaced.
- Reassemble and test: Refit hoses securely, check for leaks, and run a drain/spin cycle.
