Possible Causes
Shorted SmartDrive motor, Failed triac or IGBT on control board, Shorted motor harness, Water ingress on motor connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Motor circuits carry mains voltage.
- Inspect motor and harness: Access the motor area and check for signs of water, corrosion, or burnt connectors. Dry and clean as needed.
- Check harness continuity: Use a multimeter to verify continuity from the motor connector to the control board connector.
- Test motor windings: Measure resistance of motor windings and compare to Fisher & Paykel specs. Replace the motor if windings are shorted or open.
- Control board replacement: If the motor and wiring are good, the drive circuit on the main control is likely faulty and the board must be replaced.
