Possible Causes
Faulty Fisher & Paykel lid lock assembly, Broken lid lock strike or latch, Damaged lid lock wiring harness, Misaligned lid or door
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before working near the lid lock or door lock.
- Check lid/door closure: Ensure nothing is obstructing the lid or door. Verify the strike (metal or plastic tab) lines up with the lock opening.
- Inspect strike: If the strike is loose, bent, or broken, replace it. A misaligned strike can prevent the lock from engaging.
- Listen for lock operation: When starting a cycle (with power connected), you should hear the lock click. If there is no sound, the lock may not be receiving power or is defective.
- Access lid lock: Remove the top panel or front panel (depending on model) to reach the lock assembly. Check the wiring connector for corrosion or loose pins. Reseat firmly.
- Replace lock if needed: If the lock coil is open (test with a multimeter) or the mechanism is physically damaged, install a new Fisher & Paykel lid lock assembly.
