Fisher & Paykel
Door / Lid Stuck Locked
Washer door or lid will not open at end of cycle
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Door lock mechanism jammed, Control board not sending unlock signal, Pressure sensor still detecting water, Mechanical interference with latch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Do not force the door open with tools as this can damage the lock and seal.
- Wait a few minutes: Some models delay unlocking for safety. Allow 2–5 minutes after cycle end.
- Check for water: If water remains in the drum, run a drain/spin or manually drain via the pump filter or drain hose.
- Manual release: Use the manual release tab (if provided) near the door lock behind the lower front panel.
- Inspect lock: Once open, test the door lock for smooth operation. Replace the Fisher & Paykel door lock assembly if it sticks or fails intermittently.
